Best Practices for English Learners in PreK: The COLLTS Program
On June 3, 2021, the Center for English Learners at AIR hosted a webinar on our evidence-based, research-backed, and classroom-tested language and literacy program for preschoolers.
Cultivating Oral Language and Literacy Talent in Students (COLLTS) is designed to help teachers support language and literacy development for young dual language learners. An intervention study found that children who participated in COLLTS showed significantly larger gains in oral language than children who did not participate in the program. In the webinar, Dr. Patricia García-Arena, principal researcher, and Rebecca Bergey, senior researcher, shared study findings and introduced the new COLLTS curriculum, targeted instructional strategies, teacher-friendly materials, and built-in professional learning.
Published in partnership with Lee & Low, the largest multicultural children’s book publisher in the United States, the COLLTS program is available to order now.
