Aaron Heuser

Managing Director and Data Scientist

Aaron Heuser is a managing director and data scientist at AIR. His role encompasses leadership in mathematics, statistics, and computer science for projects focusing on modeling and simulation. Dr. Heuser's expertise includes a broad range of methodologies such as frequentist and Bayesian approaches, machine learning, artificial intelligence, agent-based modeling, system dynamics, network analysis, and evolutionary algorithms. He is skilled in implementing these mathematical methods using programming languages like Python and Java, and platforms including AWS-ML and Microsoft Azure.

Before his tenure at AIR, Dr. Heuser served as a mathematical statistician at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Within the first five months at NIH, he developed a novel statistical test that contributed to his team winning the Clinical Research Center Director’s Award for Science. His contributions at NIH covered the full spectrum of research activities, from design to implementation, working with a team of intramural scientists. His focus was on the creation of new mathematical and statistical methods, coding, and implementation. His work involved developing multi-stage compartmental models and agent-based models for disability populations, as well as machine learning and text analytics models.
