Chelsea Newton is a TA consultant in the Human Services Division at AIR. In this role, she provides assistance to states and territories as it relates to compliance with the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act. She also serves as a training and technical assistance consultant with the CDC's DASH Youth Empowerment Project.
Newton has extensive experience in juvenile justice. Prior to her time at AIR, Newton served as the compliance monitor and juvenile justice specialist for the state of Idaho. She also spent over 12 years as a juvenile probation officer, working directly with system impacted youth and families. Newton also worked with adults and youth with serious and persistent mental illness teaching skill building and providing support.
Newton was presented with the 2023 Tony Gobar Outstanding Juvenile Justice Specialist Award for her compassion and support of all youth, especially those who have experienced challenges and barriers throughout their lives.
Newton is an Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training Certified Instructor.
