Katie Herz

Senior Researcher

Katie Herz's expertise is in data dissemination and reporting, education statistics, and technical writing of results from large-scale national and international assessments. She has experience developing recruitment strategies and materials for studies, creating data collection protocols, developing and testing questionnaires, and conducting and training others to conduct interviews. She has led multiple qualitative and quantitative study tasks, providing support to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) at various stages of the assessment cycle, including survey development, technical documentation reviews, statistical reports and data products, and publication of report chapters and questionnaire data with a focus on education policy in the United States.

Herz has served as task leader for the Equity in Education Dashboard, a compendium published by NCES that contains key findings and trends on the status of educational equity in the United States. She has also served as a project director, collaborating with clients on item development and report content for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study and the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study.

She currently leads dissemination activities for the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, including presenting at national conferences, developing strategic partnerships, and translating key findings into accessible user-friendly products such as infographics, web content, and a biannual newsletter.
