American Institutes for Research Expert Among the Nation’s Top 25 Education Policy/Media Tweeters

Washington, D.C. – Patrick Riccards of the American Institutes for Research (AIR) has been identified as one of the nation’s top 25 education policy/media tweeters, according to an article in the fall 2011 issue of Education Next.

Riccards, who also is the author of the Eduflack blog, has more than 7,000 followers signed up for his @Eduflack tweets – which address a broad range of education policy issues. Riccards, who was recently elected chair of the Falls Church City (Va.) School Board, is executive director of Communications and Public Affairs at AIR.

According to the article, All A-Twitter about Education: Improving our schools in 140 characters or less, which was written by Mike Petrilli, “Twitter offers a nonstop stream of views, ideas, opinions, and emotions; get yourself in the flow or be left behind.” The top 25 education policy/media tweeters were determined by their Klout score, a social media measure which looks at a variety of factors to measure a person’s overall online influence. The article also lists the top 25 educator tweeters, including teachers, principals and parents.

The article is available on the Education Next website.
