American Institutes for Research Ranks in Disability Inclusion for Third Consecutive Year

The American Institutes for Research (AIR) has been recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work for People with Disabilities” for the third consecutive year by the Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities. The designation reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to becoming an inclusive workplace.

The Disability Equity Index is a nationwide benchmarking tool that measures how businesses are advancing workplace inclusion and assessing areas of growth and improvement to make a positive impact. AIR earned a 100 percent score for the second year in a row and joins distinguished companies such as Accenture, Booz Allen, Habitat for Humanity International, and Mathematica.

AIR’s growth in disability inclusion efforts is reflected in community engagement and employment practices that fully consider and include individuals with disabilities. Access AIR, the institution’s disability-focused employee resource group, plays an integral role in upholding tenants of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) while meeting the needs of people with disabilities, their families, and the communities that AIR serves.

The DEI Office and Access AIR have also embarked on a journey to cultivate a more accessible environment for all staff. This year, AIR has expanded collaboration with Disability:IN, partnering with the Washington, D.C., Metro chapter through its member-led coalition that encourages companies to embed disability inclusion practices though their organization. This membership provides learning opportunities for all AIR staff (regardless of role or location) at no cost.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Disability Equity Index, with a record 542 companies participating in the benchmark. View a complete list of winners at https://disabilityin.org/what-we-do/disability-equality-index/2024companies/.
