American Institutes for Research to Send 79 Experts to the American Educational Research Association’s Annual Meeting

Washington, D.C. – The American Institutes for Research (AIR) will send 79 experts to present on a wide variety of issues at the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) annual meeting. The meeting will take place from April 27 – May 1, 2013 in San Francisco, CA and attracts leading education researchers from around the world.

The theme of the meeting is “Education and Poverty: Theory, Research, Policy and Praxis,” and will focus on discussing, debating and considering the relationships and interactions of education and poverty.

AIR experts – including Jane Hannaway, Diane August, Jay Chambers, Fran Stancavage, David Osher, Susan Therriault, Jennifer O’Day, Michael Cohen, Kwang Suk Yoon, Meredith Ludwig, and others – will present on a broad range of topics, including:

  • “Optimizing Principal Feedback: Content Validity and Feasibility Testing of a Fair and Accurate Principal Observation Instrument”
  • “Developing a Statewide K-12 Early Warning Indicator System in Massachusetts”
  • “Challenges and Opportunities for Education Data and Statistics: The Current State and Well-Being of NCES (National Center for Education Statistics)”
  • “The Common Core State Standards Initiative and Educational Equity: Theory, Research, Policy, and Praxis”
  • “The Relevance of Learning Progressions for NAEP”
  • “A Successful Vocabulary Intervention for Young English Language Learners”
  • “Policies, Programs, and Practices Associated With School Turnaround”
  • “School Climate and Students’ Social and Emotional Outcomes”
  • “Implementing Intensive Interventions for Students With Disabilities: Lessons From the Field”
  • “Methodological Issues in Survey Research”
