Harold Doran Appointed to U.S. Department of Education’s National Technical Advisory Council

Washington, D.C. – Harold Doran, a principal research scientist for the American Institutes for Research (AIR), is one of 16 assessment and accountability experts chosen by Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings to serve on the National Technical Advisory Council (NTAC). The council will advise the U.S. Department of Education on state implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act.

Members of the council will advise the Department on the implementation of state standards, assessments and accountability standards. The panel is made up of leading researchers, academicians and policymakers.

Doran holds a Ed.D. from the University of Arizona in Educational Leadership and Educational Psychology and has led numerous projects at AIR analyzing state assessment data and providing technical assistance around accountability systems.

"The National Technical Advisory Council will play a vital role in ensuring that we address the technical needs of states and their accountability systems," said Spellings in a news release announcing the appointment.
