Emily Loney

Senior Researcher

Emily Loney is a senior researcher at AIR with more than nine years of experience working in education research and policy. At AIR, Ms. Loney serves as project director of operations for a multi-year, technical assistance and evaluation project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation designed to identify best practices for institutional transformation in support of improving student outcomes at 31 institutes of higher education.

Loney currently leads REL Midwest’s communication and engagement activities, which include the development of the REL Midwest website, social media accounts, events, blogs, videos, data visualization, and other collateral. In overseeing this work, she ensures that researcher and practice partners are engaged in the development and implementation of communication strategies to guarantee that products are accessible and relevant. Loney is experienced in working with state leaders and has been involved in technical assistance projects related to ESSA, Deeper Learning and educator evaluation standards for the Midwest Comprehensive Center and Great Lakes Comprehensive Center.

Prior to AIR, Loney worked as a policy analyst at the Hunt Institute, where she led efforts to share research and K-12 best practices with state legislators, governors, and business leaders. She is a certified project management professional.
