Take a look inside the tool: GTL Center expert, Dr. Etai Mizrav, demonstrates how to use the Insights Data Tool

The GTL Center's Insights Data Tool helps states identify and understand the underlying causes of their educator workforce diversity gaps.

Access this free, user-friendly, Excel-based tool to identify and visualize diversity gaps across the entire educator career continuum by:

  • Revealing insights about the diversity of the educator workforce at the state, district, school, or EPP level.
  • Identifying the main drivers behind the existing disparities between the educator workforce and K-12 student populations.
  • Pinpointing crucial points across the educator career continuum where implementing carefully selected strategies can help diversify the educator workforce and expand equity.

What's Inside the Insights Data Tool?

The Data Tool helps you explore educator workforce diversity gaps through four distinct lenses, each with an associated chart:

  • The Development of Gaps: look across the educator career continuum, charting the differences between the number of educators and their ethno-racial identity as they progress through the career continuum.
  • The Hiring Funnel: explore where in the career continuum minoritized and marginalized educators specifically are exiting most frequently.
  • Educator and Student Parity Gaps: focus in on the classroom level and identify disparities in the ethno-racial composition between student and teacher populations
  • GIS Online Maps: use GIS data to explore teacher and student ethno-racial data at both the state and district levels through easy-to-read maps and better understand the role of geography in your state's educator workforce diversity gaps.
