The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is working to update the Massachusetts English Learner Blueprint for Success. This revision aims to reflect the latest research and district practices in the state, improve student outcomes, and align with state priorities.

DESE is partnering with the Northeast Comprehensive Center to identify effective strategies and promising practices for English learner education in Massachusetts.

Northeast CC will support DESE by:

  • Reviewing English learner plans from other states;
  • Conducting targeted research to highlight what works best for English learners; and
  • Developing recommendations for improving the Blueprint.

Through this collaboration, DESE will better understand how leadership, school structures, and district systems can support improved outcomes for English learners across the state.
