Supporting the Revision of Statewide Educational Standards in Maine
Image
Maine is engaged in an effort to improve and update its statewide K–12 educational standards, the Maine Learning Results (MLR). State statute requires revision of the MLR every 5 years, and the state has dedicated resources for a task force, led by the Maine Department of Education (Maine DOE), to conduct a detailed review of the MLR.
The Maine DOE is partnering with the Northeast Comprehensive Center to review and update the MLR.
Northeast CC will support the Maine DOE by:
- Planning and facilitating task force meetings;
- Developing tools and reports;
- Shaping practices to build state capacity for ongoing development of the standards and their positive role in education in Maine; and
- Sharing a final report with MLR revision recommendations, themes, and priorities.
Through this collaboration, the Maine DOE will be equipped to update and improve the MLR’s alignment with K–12 education in the state.
