Helping New Hampshire Align Career and Technical Education Programs with Workforce Needs Using Geographic Data
New Hampshire’s employment rate has returned to pre-pandemic levels and the New Hampshire Employment Security Economic & Labor Market Information Bureau predicts that the greatest challenge facing the state is the inability to expand the labor force. With tightening labor market participation, it is critical to ensure that students and families can identify high-wage, high-demand career opportunities.
Our Work
AIR worked with New Hampshire Department of Education to create a map that summarizes data from the their Bureau of Career Development and labor market data related to the alignment of high wage, high demand occupations to career and technical education (CTE) programs.
The map visually connects education and workforce data giving valuable insights for students and families to identify CTE opportunities that will prepare students for nearby high wage, high demand occupations and for CTE leaders to strengthen CTE programming aligned to labor market needs.
To support use of the map, AIR developed a user guide and tutorial video, as well as lesson plans to facilitate student career exploration using the map.
