Data for Policy for Developed and Developing Countries

Evidence-based policy making and evaluation are a critical part of effective public management and international development. Data and metrics provide a core foundation for planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. 

Governments and organizations are learning to embrace more Open Data and Big Data approaches as a way to streamline and modernize their data-driven policy approaches. AIR develops and implements these approaches to provide new insights into organizational capacity and impact.  We work with governments, funding agencies, and private and public organizations in Spain, Norway, France, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, and other developed and developing countries.

Our major advantage is the ability to “translate” data science language into words, tools, and applications that are familiar and useful to the policy, international development, and practitioner audiences.

Our new algorithms and approaches

• link administrative records and primary data from surveys, interviews, and other sources;
• build large, secure data infrastructures for clients, researchers, and collaborators;
• promote national statistical systems to gather and analyze information about science and economic development in a systematic way;

• develop useful visualizations and tools for policy makers to plan, manage, and report on their programs and policies.
